Uses a'plate' mechanism to evenly distribute heat. If you want, like I did frequently, you can easily slide the plates out (if you want a more streamlined air flow with a hot and cool end). It also has a built-in grill that you can use (coal/wood only). Whole thing is seasoned with high quality Texas post oak. Note - we are also chipping in a brand new hitch dolly and wheel lock for free. I also have a link to a video presentation of this grill, but site will not let me post.
